Devotions for all who desire to know God deeply in a modern, social media world.
Read 2 Timothy 2:15
15 "Work hard so God can approve you. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.”
This stood out to me. It’s a call to ultimate accountability for yourself. So often we make choices when no one is looking or watching. Or say things behind people's backs. I have a saying that I have often repeated in our marriage over the years:
Never compromise your integrity. Never.
Because at the end of the day you have to live with you and the choices you have made.
2 Timothy 2:15 is a command. Choosing to be a good worker and then acting on it allows you to live unashamed. When you have nothing to hide, you can live a life free from shame and fear.
You do not wake up in your life having achieved what you wish for your life. No, you have to choose and daily show up and that is how you achieve your goals. Choosing to be a good worker, where ever your work is, from a barista who has access to a cash register to a CEO who has access to the accounting department, live with so much integrity that NO ONE can find fault in you and your work ethic.
God, today I choose to show up in my own life and to be present and aware of my actions. Help me to be a good worker today. Help me to live a life with integrity, which includes my thoughts, actions and conversations. And help me to boldly and correctly speak about you to the world around me.
